Not for ages? For me anyway.
Usually says they are too big if I try to upload un- resized?

When did that happen? I was always having to resize my images manually.

Wasn't that because the images were going up full size but server space was at a premium so it was changed? I dunno, uploaded a larger image file to try and it worked so I'm happy :D

Same as @craige - just checked, the pic of my TS on Helm Crag that I posted this morning was 2768 x 1634 pixels 1.74Mb, uploaded fine.

    Hmm, that's not good

I'll try and look into it tonight

Looks like 755x445 to me @Graham?

I did apply the 800x800 restriction within the forum software so it should resize or tell you it's too big (if massive to start with) The software I was looking at was to reduce all the existing images that still on here from the early days before I realized all the bandwidth was being munched.

So supporting members should be able to upload direct, if the file is too big it will resize to 800x800 unless it massive (can't remember the thresholds)

Checked the settings, if the image can be resized to 800x800 and be less than 40000kb it will work.

    Yes.
since it changed I haven't been able to upload from pics I've taken without drastically resizing pics.

    So 4megs is the limit?

Only if the resized (800x800) is within 4mb

Why can't I upload an image, even though it is smaller than the maximum dimensions (pixels) permitted?
Server-side file size (KB) resizing is not supported. Any files which are larger than the maximum size specified in theACP -> Options -> Attachments: Maximum Attachment File Size (KB) will be rejected.

Why can I upload an image, even though it is larger than the maximum file size (KB) permitted?

Uploaded files are first resized based on the maximum physical dimensions (pixels) set in the ACP -> Options -> Attachments: Maximum Attachment Image Dimensions. If the resized image is below the maximum file size (KB) limit, then it will be allowed.
Note that with XenForo 1.2 and above, by default, images of 20 megapixels and over will not be resized; this is to prevent fatal errors due to running out of memory. If the Maximum Attachment Image Dimensions combined total (width x height) is set lower than this limit, images greater than 20 megapixels, or with a dimension larger than that permitted, will be rejected with an error stating The uploaded image is too big. If the Maximum Attachment Image Dimensions combined total (width x height) is set to 0 or greater than 20 megapixels, the image will appear as an attachment without a thumbnail. The 20 megapixels limit can be changed using a config.php switch; refer to this section of the XenForo Manual.

I just drag the photo to here, never been asked to re-size just if thumbnail or full image. An image i posted yesterday of me new TS was 5184 x 2920 according to my laptop, so it must have resized it automatically (thankfully, cause i wouldn't have a clue otherwise)

I could never post up photos direct from I Photos or Photos from I Mac or I Phone
Ended up resizing each one...what a pain
Then...... by accident, discovered not to click on the post at all but click directly onto, 'upload a photo'.......
Only begin to write up and post photos when ready.....
    No problem now......DUH.......
    No more resizing pics...
