Has anyone bought one of these yet? The insulated version? Seems like a possible swap out for the XTherm , similar weight, slightly less R value (R0.76 as against R 1.0 for the XTherm) but more comfy if you prefer the quilty S2S style over the baffles on the thermarests. It's also 4cm wider!

My XTherm has failed to respond to 6 patches and is still not staying inflated, so I'm thinking....

I struggle with the x-lite baffles and have considered trying these. No one in Brighton sells them so haven’t been able to try them out.

Folks keep bringing up that they are much taller than the x-lites which may be an issue for smaller shelters? I think that’s probably overstated. I suppose dead arms if your arms slide off in your sleep might be more likely?

These etherlights are very thick, 10cm, compared to 5cm for a S2S ultralight insulated and 6.3 for a thermarest. It might well be a problem in a small shelter.

Which version is that? What was it supposed to weigh? Looks wildly thick! Would you mind posting more impressions once you’ve used it on cold ground.

Did it’s thermal qualities seem up to the mark? V tempted.

yes definitely, we were on tussocky grass i had a polycro type sheet then the mat i used a quilt in a bivi bag cover (dog protection) temps i guess got to 2 or 3 deg but i tried different positions ie side back front all comfortable and felt no cold spots. im generally a warm sleeper. should do for all but the worst winters i get on kinder.

i compared synthetic fill against my exped winterlite and it felt very similar in thickness.

I think this just moved to the top of my wish list...lighter than my Klymit by about 6 oz, thicker, same R rating, and only slightly narrower. I'm sold!

    Hello,

I bought the S2S Etherlight XT W this summer. The mat is really comfortable as a sidesleeper. I sold my Therm-a-rest Xtherm. When I bought it this summer, the R-value was 4.2 and weight was 530gr. I still have the package with these numbers. When I look to the S2S website now, it only has a R-value of 3.5, and the weight is 600gr. Does anyone know what has happened?

hmmm, probably a miss print like most of their weights:D

Mine weighs 500 including bag/inflator. Lower r value seems about right.

    This happened
"Since January 1, 2020, we are using the new industry standard ASTM F3340-18 test to provide R-Values for our mats.

In some mats, the new test protocol means changes to previously published R-Values. Where values do change, it doesn’t signify a drop or increase in warmth—it simply means they have been tested using a slightly different scale. The packaging may still carry the pre-2020 R-Value."
TR Xlite in the new scale is 4.2.
    Saw this when looking recently.

I bought the Etherlight Women's regular before my WHW hike. Sadly within a couple of nights it was losing air so it was returned and I went back to using my Klymit. I also struggled with losing a couple of inches in width, but it was definitely comfortable. I recently found, and bought, the regular- wide rectangular version (not women's) and checked it was holding air for a week with weight on it...good to go. It is also still lighter than my Klymit pad, thicker and wider. This thing is CUSHY

Ah, thank you, that makes sense. I looked it up on the website, and it is all clear now.

Failed on first night of a 25 day full camping trip
    Deflated continually
Had to resort to a donated half cut off CCF Mat
Returned to STS who offered replacement but I opted for money back
I see more people experiencing similar issue.

My newer version was tested for a week with constant heavy weight on it because of that problem with my first one. Didn't have a problem with the new one...but was also different model. Seems like there may have been a bad batch on a specific model.

mine had to have 2 or 3 extra puffs through the night last sat , twice:mad:

I’ve got a brand new one for sale! Any takers? ;) Supplied by s2s as a replacement for mine that also deflated. It’s the women’s one still in its box. As @DuneElliot says, it was probably a duff run and the replacement one will be fine.

    Must have been cold.
    Temp drop overnight?
Do you do the fill well before bed, let it sit then repuff before hopping in?

You're asking if anyone's bought an insulated woman? Well, there are some who like women to be well insulated and some who prefer them to be more ultralight, but I'm not sure about actually buying them...
