    Brand New

I bought a Duomid at the end of last year and after seeing on set-up on a trip to Spain realised that it was to big for my needs - stealth camping.
It's in gray and hasn't been used. It will need to be seam sealed.
    I'd like £300 for it.

Always open to offers - the import costs in the UK are eye watering.

Sorry, which sized inner did you select when purchasing?

I got the standard Duomid sil Mesh inner - not the single one like some people do.

Thank you. I’ll leave it sorry, as I’m now considering the duomid xl, but I’d want the smaller inner I think as my chair takes up a lot of the vestibule. Thank you for replying. :)

    Hey Paul,

What was it about the Duomid that made you decide that it was too big (for Spain / stealth camping)? Was the height, or length a factor, or did the grey colour play a part in how it made such an impression on you?

I did the whole north of Spain in the last couple of years. I was nervous stealth camping closer to habitation, of course, and in a couple of national parks, especially in Ordessa, and also the Picos. I used a Macpac Sololight (L225 x W130 x H105 at 1300g - all approx) last summer. It's a great wee tent, also in high winds, and it's quite liveable, but I'm in the market for changing that out for something at least 500g lighter, a bit roomier for myself and spacious enough for a hiking companion at a squeeze, if/when needed.

I first looked at the Solomid XL (I'm 6'=183cm), then thought, since I've saved so hard, why not just shell out and go for a DCF Duomid + Duomid innernet, getting more space and modularity. My other choice to the Doumid is probably a Zpacks Hexamid. I wish I could say I was looking to buy your set-up, but I wouldn't be saving much weight with the silnylon option. I hope you understand.

I'm hopefully crossing the southern Alps this summer, so in a lot of cases I'll probably need to be quite discreet, therefore my questions about the worry you have with the size of the Duomid. And I'll also be back in Spain at some stage soon too! :)

    I appreciate your thoughts. Cheers,
    Paul

It was just a bit big for my needs + I'm not keen on being enclosed in a shelter when I'm stealth camping. I've got a tarp and bivi ( MLD Grace & Astucas Millaris bivi sack) that I use - I can pitch the tarp quite low if needed and tie it out to rocks/trees etc and gain more flexibility when it comes to pitching etc.

I have just purchased an Tarptent Aeon li that I'm very impressed with so will be giving it a go to see if it suits me.

so do you think the duomid is too big/too impressive for discretion?

It is for me - I spent many years just using a hooped bivi, so anything bigger than a coffin seems excessive :)

Looks very similar in dimension and ability of a duomid.
