Jake, my Dipole Li has a similar ‘flaw’ across the ceiling panel (about 30cm long). I’ve spent about 25 nights in it with quite a few thunderstorms and heavy rain….. I was initially a bit concerned, but now I am totally confident that it doesn’t have any affect whatsoever.
I had the same sort of mark on a previous dcf tent (Protrail) so I guess that it may just be in the manufacturing of the dcf material.
Still, it’s up to you what action you take 👍

DCF is made by laminating ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibres between two thin layers of polyester film, creating a strong, lightweight, waterproof, non-woven composite material. The UHMWPE filaments provide immense strength and low stretch, while the polyester layers provide cohesion and waterproofness, forming a strong, non-woven "sandwich".

To me it looks like one of the layers might've had a crease when it was laminated. Unless there are holes, stretching or issues with structural integrity, I wouldn't worry about it, especially since it's a camo pattern.

theres an indent in the material. so your nail goes along the dcf the drops into the gap .

i just want to make sure im not over reacting, and asking others expreiences, with dcf camo,

out of all the dcf shelters ive had, ive never seen this.

Does your nail drop into the gap on both sides? If not, I suspect that it's a fault with the camouflage layer, which is an additional layer on top of the DCF. If so, it's purely aesthetic and only you can say if you're happy to live with it.
If it's a fault on both sides. I'd be more worried, though DCF repair tape would fix any potential weakness.
DCF is hand made, to some extent, so there are always visible inconsistencies. So, if it were me I'd be willing to put up with it if I really liked the tent and it was only in the camo layer, especially as I think camo DCF isn't made anymore?. You could ask for a discount due to the flaw.

drops in both sides as in its thinner..
Out of interest, how is the quality of the inner?
comparable to anything ive had from tarptent

I might wonder why having seen a great line through the camo (however cosmetic), another piece wasn't cut.

Even if it is just cosmetic I'd consider it a blem (as Tarptent calls them) - and they sell those at a discount for a reason.

'There is, however, some loss in aesthetic quality and for that we offer a discount.' Tarptent website

As i understand it dcf camo is in very short supply, this is probably the last of the bunch, so i hope its purely that

It depends where you come from some see a tent as just that, me i cant unsee something not being right,

If there were no indent, ie thinner in this area it wouldn't bother me one bit, but in my eyes rightly or wrongly that line being thinner than the rest surely invites more stress.

The tent itself is very well made and im over the moon with that aspect

But theres just been a few too many red flags, ie wrong poles sent with it, missing pole bag now this

I kinda think it's fate 😞

Yeah, from what i have seen of recent times they should do as the poles dont fit in the dcf stuff(roll) sack

yeah send it back. A couple years ago, I had a bad run of new gear with flaws/ blems. Nothing crazy so I sucked it up, but ended up selling two of those pieces and had to describe the problems in good conscience. Definitely had to lower the price as well.

Is there a rush?
I dont need anything from treadlite. I was being facetious.

Im done now

The tent was the final piece and thats gone down in flames

Ive decided to suck it up and stick with the soulo, brings me to around 8kg carrying 2l of water and food.

Weather was vile at weekend and it kept me safe and sound

Each time ive bailed its been because ive been in a ul shelter, that's just not been suitable, and where ive been ive not been able to drop down behind walls, or lower flat areas.

The forecast isn't always what it says and it seems to be very windy

Ive loved romping around the howgills this year, now the darker nights are settling in, ill be back local.

And i do appreciate each and every one of yours inputs, even if we dont always see eye to eye, its taken in and noted
