Follow Bigfoot has his first instalment up on YouTube,
I see Darwin in the group.
I find Bigfoot to be less tiresome
Sub 5kg base weights
(WARNING - ropey music selection)
Not big on detail except the weight of the ultra ultra light packs.
Must be quite a drag having to constantly race ahead of the group to place the camera, race back to the group, walk past, run back to the camera, retrieve it, race back to walking party. At least it increases the mileage you can boast about...
Gotta say, i'm warming to that bigfoot bloke
Seems to genuinely enjoy the trip, didn't pretend to be a know-it-all and listened to advice on his kit choices and doesn't seem to be pushing himself, products or his narrative
38 is stout
Looks lovely with a blue sky
Scary lookin' gaiters
Maybe it's just the way the footage is edited but it looks like they spent quite a bit of time road walking. Interesting group list at the end.
Epically bad music. Enjoyable series. Bigfoot seems a good guy. Hope he does it again.
There's a description of the route and some nice pics by one of the group here: https://plugitinhikes.com/2019/06/17/2019-tgo-challenge-recap-scotland/
Not the typical ferry to Inverie from Mallaig start. Also drop South to Fort William in order to do Ben Nevis.
He takes a fetching picture, nice report
Really good stuff! Great video that must really have taken some effort to film while on the challenge. Quite amazed at the tiny packs! Impressive!
From some of the comments I’ve seen, I think they will be back. I think they enjoyed it.
I enjoyed those vids. I must confess the American accent triggers a slight negative response in me when I hear it - expecting the person to be a bit loud and over opinionated. My bad. But I warmed to the guy and found him enthusiastic and not overbearing. His gear vids are interesting and gave me food for thought. I liked the bit where he is opting for the little swiss army knife - I've carried that as part of my kit since starting.. and its so handy : )
Most of my gear and gear choices now seem to be aimed at my winter/late season trekking, but am tempted back into warmer weather hiking and as per Bigfoot - might give the ankle gaiter/shorts a go (I hate running hot) and look at the leggings and something like a minimus pant for camp wear.
Time to look at lightening the load for some late Summer outings (I'm onto physio now with my knee to get some muscle back!)
Darwin's TR gets released sometime today:
Darwin’s first episode is up. I like the new sparse commentary style. Some good videography. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Darwin's 2nd episode,
I like him
The posh fish and chips made me laugh though.
Childs portion? Lol
I normally find him too polished, but enjoyed those, makes the tgo quite tempting...
I find he talks like a presenter on CBBC, so less talk is a welcome change.
It's totally unfair and a silly criticism, but he just looks so well groomed lol
