Working on some ventilated shoulder straps for a small run of packs.
I had to search back for this, but planning on trying ace alternatives on some trail shows, as I quite like my Salomon quicklime set up - after never previously owned any. Does anyone use dyneema? I have a stock of some nice bright 3mm stuff, or is shock cord the way to go?
I changed mine because the original laces didn’t stretch and caused chafing. Now I can lace up tighter and it’s more comfortable.
Small run of packs.....
I found dyneema slips and rubs through the top of the shoe. ( thats not the dyneema

Comfort upgrade on cheapy trail runners. I feels the difference with the new shock cord.
I "finished" my prototype backpack.
Measurements are approx 30*20*75cm unrolled.
It's made of cheap 70D ripstop. Wich is a pain to sew. As it slides and doesn't have any "body". And some stretch mesh a bought locally. The thread is tera 60 with water repellent coating.
I made some stupid mistakes of course... But overall it's pretty nice. It has an internal sleeve with 5mm eva100 and a carbon/nylon hoop frame. The pockets are deep and have an drainage corner sewed in. I didn't make the belt yet and maybe will never make as it just a prototype.
It's the first time I've sewn in the straps. And the seams aren't the best I've ever made But it does fit nicely. Thanks Dave for you're pattern! And everybody of course who has answered my unending list of backpack questions
Here are some images.
Now I'm analyzing the pattern and adjusting it so I can make one from DXG. Maybe first I'll make one without a belt. And a bit simpler maybe. I'm open to suggestions
Is DXG -Dyneema Xgrid/gridstop?
Your sack shape resembles my SWD Long Haul.
In a good way!
Thanks! I was aiming for a atom+ lookalike.
Yes, I have a few meters of
I'm hoping that I can make 1 or 2 to sell. But just as a hobby project. I need to practice more but how many backpacks can a man have
I'm planning a build without a belt and about 35 liters and maybe with a belt and 50 liters I think.
12l day Alpine day sack full out 330D cordura....now roll top...velcro closure....kam snaps or classic draw string? Help ....pondering to add 1cm daisy chain to the front side (2x vertical)..thougths?
Added a sheet of thinsulate wadding into the bottom lining of my Rab Module top bag. Sealed back up with Spinnaker tape (although Grey is more like green ). Now 610g and still packable. A bag for warm nights.. so not very often then!
Nice! What kind of mesh did you use?
Thanks, the main pockets on this one are dyneema reinforced stretch mesh
Where do you order that? I noticed on the ripstopbytheroll.com it's almost always sold out..
RBTR or Extrem
What a cracker.
Doubled 3mm 3D mesh shoulder straps. Or are they a 6mm?
is this a first for you?
How do they feel?
Are you envisaging a max load of app 7-8kgs and still have a wee bit of comfort?
A bit hard to tell the size -looks 25-30L internal?
You’re pretty much spot on with the straps and capacity and hopefully almost correct with the load rating. This one is a first yeah, it’s all new with quite a few features that need some testing to see if they work as planned
Looks beautifully made
I happen to be intimately acquainted with a tester of the highest moral standing...
Tromps 70-100 kms per week, every week. Just saying..
Very nice . I like the strap pockets.
Ha, I’m not looking to sell any so I’m happy testing them myself
Not actualy made but used some odd carbon tent poles to make a netting tunnel over the Strawberry growers...lost too many from birds of all sorts
Pie dish windscreen for my little FMS-300T, needs some venting but it seems to work well
