Progress of today... Man this is painfully slow moving.. Seald 4 baffles this morning and did a test run of sewing apex onto the baffle. Just 7 more to go and seal all the baffles to the top panel, add the valve and hope it won't leak
Quick and dirty back garden pitch. Not pitched a tarp for years so need to get the knack again. I'm not sure I got the geometry bang on so I suspect I'll never quite get it as taut as I'd prefer, certainly on one side. But happy with it for a first attempt. It's definitely the right size though. Need to remember to seal the mid-panel tie-outs...
Yes, I made one earlier this year. Here it is. (and an Apex overbag to go in it). Need to try them all out together now...
Just finishing off my 2.6m X 2.6m X 1.6m ultamid type shelter. Just the vent to add. 425g so far without lines.
Looking good! No vent? Oware style. Info. IIRC Oware/David Olsen (who has made mids since the 80s) made the first Cuben Mids for Ryan Jordan and others Arctic Challenge UL trip. When I asked him (David) about where to put mid panel tie-outs , he suggested about ⅓ the way up from the hem was optimal. (About 2' on his 9*9 mid I have)
I reckon the optimal mid panel tie out position would vary depending on the severity of the Catenary cut on the corner seams.
@Mole I think your right, I should have stuck them on after a test pitch. They are 1m up a 2.1m long panel, I recon 70cm or so would be better. I will bond a vent on, but I've 'misplaced' the cuben I set aside to make the vent and bag.... Idea was to have the cowel covering the zip and use the top slider to vary vent size. Not convinced that's a great idea, but easy enough to mock up and give it a go.
@Shewie 425g, still has three line locks and the vent to add. 450g? @WilliamC it's a mega simple thing to make, just very expensive on fabric. This is mainly the seconds stuff rsbtr had at $25/yd. Can't tell why it's seconds though. But seriously very easy.
Because we live in a small house without garage or spare bedroom I sew at the dining table. Not too bad but the misses needs that table too sometimes So I made myself a collapsible desk
