There's some quite spectacular video of it https://news.stv.tv/west-central/he...-roof-torn-apart-in-extreme-storm-eowyn-winds ("converting back to an open air pool" according to one wag)The leisure centre a couple of km up the road.....
Yeah, my bins were strewn all over the floor when I went out this morning.Various, mostly minor, damage around here. Some wood work torn off our garage. Bins all over the back - despite being in a sheltered place.
Folks across the road had the roof on their car port torn up and cracked the car wind screen.
Leccy off for 8hrs - back on now - hats off to the guys who had to go out and do the repairs.
Gust of 101 mph recorded in Largs (?)
Makes a change from slates falling from tenement roofs.A friend on another forum says that his brother in Edinburgh received the traditional gift of a trampoline, but that it might be gone before he has a chance to play with it
Take care.View attachment 62439
Our conservatory had a lucky escape. I shall be busy with block & tackle and chainsaw tomorrow.....
Tree down safely, no damage, got off lightly. This tree had been suffering from the ash die back disease, so in some ways it is a relief that it has come down without consequences.View attachment 62439

..and there must be a couple of month's worth of firewood for our woodburner there....

when I travel over to Knocknafaugher, should I bring candles or a massive powerbankCousin just got an update from the power company, they expect to regain power in her area in Donegal by the 01/02.
It's going to be a cold week for them.![]()
Depends when you're going, there's power outings all over, they reckon the ones round there will be fixed by tue/wed https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie/when I travel over to Knocknafaugher, should I bring candles or a massive powerbank![]()
Helensburgh Pool took a hammering. There are tons of videos doing the rounds. They started assessing the damage when the red alert passed on Friday night and have been hard at work trying to repair it ever since. I haven’t passed today but I’m hopeful that it won’t take too long. Helensburgh was full of sodden roof felt at the bottom of the town yesterday not much of it from the pool. A couple of streets were closed off While roof repairs were being carried out and there’s lots of free firewood if you act before the clean up gangs get round to it. Most of my dog walks are blocked in one place or another with fallen or broken trees and the 3 LochsWay/John Muir Way which has already been blocked for a year following a storm last February is likely to be in trouble again.@edh I hear from my sister that Helensburgh swimming pool never got off lightly & will be off limits for a while after the roof got ripped apart yesterday![]()
