I had the 20D version and what pursuaded me was

    1. The weight, although mine was heavier than stated (920 grams), its still pretty light for such a fully-featured tent
    2. The cost is excellent value for money when you compare it with Tera Nova or Hilleberg

Marc does excellent work ,but be aware that lead times are very long ,particularly
at this time of year ,more so if there is custom work involved .
I had the DCF/Cuben Phreeranger with a custom inner and it took several months
before I received it . He had some trouble in sourcing a light material for the
inner which added to the time as well .

These are the basic options but there are multiple permutations available of design and material types:

Phreeranger Original design - standard porch

Phreeranger Original design - EB porch

Phreeranger Trekkertent design - double standard porch

Phreeranger Trekkertent design - DCF - this has 2 porches but only one zip door so the back porch is just a storage area accessed by a short zip on the inner. The inner is a bit narrower as standard.

Ordered end of May, mine only just got shipped. Sadly the camo fabric got held up in customs for a while

September would be nice but as long as it arrives before spring I'll be happy.

What did you order in the end?

The standard Phreeranger. By standard I mean as he makes it now.

Disappointed with my Phreeranger. Camo fabric for silpoly tent is nothing like that which is used on the website (which is what I wanted and thought I ordered).

Camo is more old army fatigues than modern camo that is used. A little heavier than expected too.

My standard 20D Sil-Poly was heavier than specified as well but I'm certainly not disappointed with it. You get a lot of tent for your money

At least I'm not the only one. I was actually more disappointed with the color than the slight weight addition

What colour inner did you go for?
  15. DuneElliot

    DuneElliot Section Hiker

Color? I didn't get a choice in color of inner. I ordered a partial solid inner so knew it would be heavier, but not by quite as much as it is
  16. ZenTrekker

    ZenTrekker Section Hiker

Ah, OK. I had a choice of white or yellow solid inner, this was about 18 months ago. I opted for the white. I subsequently read somewhere but I can't remember where, that the white fabric is heavier than the yellow.

    DuneElliot Section Hiker

Yeah, I think it's the inner that is way heavier than I thought. I was thinking along the lines of Tarptent where their solid inners are only an oz more than their mesh inners. I haven't set it up yet but hope I still like it. Not much of a fan of the camo they sent me though...it's definitely different from what is on the website

You always have to be careful with photographs. What does your's weigh?
  19. DuneElliot

    DuneElliot Section Hiker

    2lbs 5oz
That's quite a lot higher than the listed weight

Photos are very definitely not the same fabric though, not even close
  20. ZenTrekker

    ZenTrekker Section Hiker

936 grams, not too bad. Mine is 900 grams dead including pegs (834 grams w/o pegs)

The yellow is heavier than the white, just marginally. Marc confirmed this to me a month ago. He avoids using the yellow as some people told him it was attracting insects.
  22. ZenTrekker

Interesting, I thought it was the other way round. Live & learn!
  23. DuneElliot

    DuneElliot Section Hiker

I haven't even included pegs in that weight. I carry mini groundhogs unless I'm in Scotland

I have the white partial solid inner

Also looking at the instructions and checking the tent out...I'm missing the corner O rings and mitten hooks to connect the inner to the outer tent in the corners

    2lb 5oz is 1049g I think.

Same weight as my Silpoly 2 door std porch

    DuneElliot Section Hiker

Okay, maybe I was expecting miracles. Lol. Or wasn't quite relating between metric and American weights

As mentioned above, it was the huge difference between the types of camo used that bothered me more. It is wasn't just a slight difference in shading in the picture, it was a very very different camo that was used
