I was looking for an alternative to Crocs and just came across these - Merrel Vapor Glove 4s at 125g each.
£45 after supporter discount. Just wondering if anyone had any experience of them. They look like you could walk a bit in them if you had a few fordings to make in a shortish distance.

Just wondering if anyone here has experience of them.

I have VG 4 3D and TG 4 Knit. I prefer VG 4 over the TG. It's more minimal, TG has more cushioning. The sizing can vary quite a bit between the different Glove models. I also have a pair of Hydro Glove water shoes. The whole Glove line is minimal cushioning, zero drop (afaik). The width is medium, but it has more toe space (to splay) compared to your average trail runners. I've yet to put any serious miles on any of them, as I've quite a few pairs that I use. They're great shoes as long as you're use to minimalist shoes, although not the most minimalist ones out there.

I'm not at all used to minimalist but I'm only thinking about them for river crossings and camp. I'm at the stage of over thinking my TGO route and once I get into the Cairngorms there's quite a few river crossings. In one glen there are a few in quick succession. I'm a boot wearer and naively like to try and keep them dry. For camp I would open the laces right up and use the dry socks in plastic bag trick if they were wet and I fancied a change from boots.

I guess you take quite a large size. What weight are yours?

I think somebody found some copies somewhere, possibly on AE

My Vivos have done me well for rivers crossing and camp duties on longer trips
I want AE copies, repeat ...

It is difficult to appreciate just how tight living in Yorkshire makes you.

The wife and I both have vivo's (an early model) got them in the vivo sale years ago for 25 quid, cant fault them for river crossings, nice and secure with a decent grip.

I've kinda gone off them, preferring an ali Express slip on thing that are probably 20 odd grams heavier, I prefer the slip on as I like to chuck them straight on when I've pitched and they're ideal for that and 0100, 0300 & 0500 strolls, no fafing with laces etc. They've crossed a fair few burns but there probably not as secure as the vivo's.

The wife still prefers her vivo's, she even walked from newtonmore to feshie in hers once when she was suffering with her feet, (I wont mention who carried her boots)

I got these from AliExpress. Not used them for river crossings as yet. Look a bit odd but are surprisingly comfortable. 9C2D6514-4DC4-4CF9-B4F1-A9917FC8F89A.jpeg

I’m waiting for these to arrive as camp shoes. I wasn’t sure about sizing so got a large. Intend to wear them over socks around camp rather than over trainers but if they are floppy I’ll try a medium size which should be snug enough to wear for short river crossings and as camp shoes. Hope they are very light but may be total rubbish!
