(3) not for sale now
Big Agnes AXL Insulated Regular wide. 182 x 64. 424g. No R value given although that doesn't mean that it doesn't have an R value. This is the insulated AXL rather than the uninsulated grey version of the same. It gets mixed reviews for it's insulating qualities and my experience is the same. It insulates, but not enough for me. Would therefore suit a reasonably warm sleeper for 3 season use. But it is massively comfortable and a very good weight for such a wide mat. I've used this about 25 times and I've put silicone dots on one side for slippage purposes. Also included is the pump sack 84g ULOG price for the mat is £229.00 and £34.99 for the pump sack.

My Price for both £180 including UK postage. Paypal F&F

@Clare just out interest, what mattress are you using at the moment? - Possibly looking to replace my Neoair this summer

I haven't decided Helen. It's between a Sea to Summit Woman's Etherlight, 55cm wide (500g with pump sack), a big agnes AXA insulated, 64cm wide (494g with pump sack) or wishing I hadn't sold that neoair and getting a women's neoair (340g + use lungs), which has a better R value than the one I sold.

The women's ether light is brand new in the box after Sea to Summit replaced a faulty one and I'm tempted to sell it rather than use it and use the Big Agnes instead. But the big agnes has downsides as it is rectangular and doesn't fit nicely in the notch (if I take the notch) and also its insulation is rubbish, which only matters up high. So I could carry foil backed foam but then I may as well take the heavier Etherlight, although the Big Agnes is wider, which I appreciate a lot. So... dunno! Probably the Big Agnes and sell the Etherlight.

Though the Big Agnes plus foil backed foam does give you a bit of a back up if your air mat fails.

There may be still some bargain XTherms around and no need to use lungs-get a Nylofume bag (35gms doubles as a bit of a wet bag- 40 litres) and make an inflator.

You think? I thought it had been conclusively established in this forum that people over 50 don't sleep on very thin bits of foam anymore.

But can fold it up (the silver foam) as a sit mat and save the 36g on a sit mat. Will probably go for the extra width of the Big Agnes which I found really reduces the drafts from edge of quilt slipping off edge of mattress.

Indeed. I was meaning that it would give a bit of a less uncomfortable night (and be slightly warmer), not that it would be cosy :)

Been looking for some Nylofume bags in the EU, Do you happen to know where I can get some? Also, have you ever seen a tutorial on how the make this inflator for a Klymit flat valve?

They will come from a bloke in the US. Called Dollywallymolly or some such. About 2-3$. The Klymit flat valve is the same size as Sea to Summit from memory. Have you searched Youtube? Look for STS inflators. There may be some.
Really all you will need a 5cm section of hose from a hardware shop that will fit into the hole on the mat. Cut a small corner off the bag, turn the bag inside out, push the hose thru' and seal on the outside of the bag with an elastic band. Turn the bag back right way round and you are ready!
Practice on some shopping bags first. I wouldn't bother on a Klymit. They take so few breaths to inflate. This method is most useful with the bigger Neoairs etc that take 20-30 breaths or more.

Didn't realize the STS valves were the same, thanks for that. Found a hack on BPL using the finger of a dishwashing glove as an adapter. Will give it a go. Thanks again.
