Do you know what I'm just fed up with you sniping at me all the time. I don't know what I've done to offend you but clearly you have an issue. So I'm sorry.

I am sincerely sorry you feel this way. I thought it was more you sniping at myself.
I thought Zen was the art of peace through meditation yet you throw your exclamation marks around and appear to question the context of my posts in a challanging Manor.
I'll just put you on block and you can do the same... Then we can all live peacefully ever after.
    Peace out  (block on)

Insurance companies are warning people that if camping and your tent is stolen during the night...you will not be covered

    While we're off topic...
I've often wondered how insurance companies, deal with claims for stolen / damaged cars that have been parked overnight on mountain roads etc whilst overnight camping?
I once had a policy that stated the vehicle must be kept at the policy address overnight.

I think most, if not all, insurers ask where the vehicle will be kept overnight. It wouldn’t be reasonable to expect it to be kept at a single address 365 days a year though, would it?

And steering back in topic, I think I’ll buy a Ti pan today. I hated that little MSR Titan thing... so shall report back later.

I tried a Ti pan, it didn't work out for me, I finished up with two cerami skillets as they cook a bit more evenly in my experience and are less faff to keep clean. Hope it works out for you. Keep us posted please. Cheers

Yeah @Fossil Bluff 's right, an insurer could never enforce such terms, it's just where the vehicle is kept regularly overnight. They would twist if say you lived rural and said you kept it there but then went and kept in a higher risk city every night -but doing this occasionally should be ok.

Taking reasonable care, ensuring it's locked etc is enough.

And never leave anything visible, the ‘scrotes’ Will have anything.

Flash back...:woot:... to a real nightmare. I had SAR training weekend with my dog in South Wales (Talybont area). We came back off the hill to find a number of cars had been broken into. I was stoopid enough to have left lots of gear in the car, climbing and sailing kit, personal documents... all sorts. Anyway it was all gone.

I reached through the broken window for something and slashed my hand on the glass. Then the police wanted to ‘dust’ the car for fingerprints (not much to do in Wales) back at Crickhowell station. I gave them a statement and my search dog happily sat in the car with the boot open (it was a hot day). This added probably another three or four hours to my day so far. Then I came out to find that the dog had chewed through the wiring loom of the rear lights... “That’s okay” says the copper “it’s daylight, you won’t need the lights” :banghead:... I told him what I thought of his advice and the requirement to have indicators, reversing and brake lights... so there I was and hour and half later, still in a police compound waiting for the RAC to turn up - who then patched my wiring back together.

Eventually I got home, none of my gear was worth the hassle of ‘have you made a claim in the last 5 years’ and the time, effort, scars were never going to be retrieved.

A month later, I got a call from Crickhowell nick saying they had caught somebody connected to another offence, and they described some kit they found - it was my climbing rack... yeay... they said they would post it to me. 4 months later and I was still arguing with the police who never sent me my gear back.

So, NEVER leave anything on display in your car... not even a pair of shoes. If a hard up drug user can get £5 for your £180 pair of pattagoucci loafers, he would be happy.

Meanwhile, I’ll have to make amends and buy something to justify posting such utter twaddle on this thread.

@Fossil Bluff Quite a story of bad luck.
We got our car broken into parked at a popular beauty spot, stupidly left a wallet with money under the seat. The police reckoned they (criminals) watch people park to see if anything gets hidden.
These days I leave coins but take the cards and notes with me. And try not to leave much if any gear in sight.

…. I'd better hide the packet of chewing gum that sits by the gear stick !! :wideyed:.

It's the damage caused breaking in which is such a PITA.

    Ordered: Alpkit Gourdon 20L
Thought about the getting bigger one, but these don't have the shockcord and/or mesh pockets.

Selling my other bag as it has bright red zips and straps and it clashes horribly with the purple I wear a lot :sorry:

I've had mine for quite a few years now and love it. Still waterproof and holding up well, also have a Gourdon 30 but don't really like it much.

That's it exactly. I'd have given them the sweets.
Like my alpkit 30 too. No chance of reaching round to get a water bottle but great in a kayak or in truly awful weather.

Good to hear good reports about it. Why don't you like the 30?
