No - Bioethanol is just ethanol made from biological sources rather than from crude oil; usually 95% ethanol the other 5% is flammable contaminants.
Meths sold in the UK is generally 90-95% ethanol, 5 -10% methanol & the purple dye.

I was only quoting the page from Amazon. Mind you we do have some Polish spirit in the house.

I think adding the Methanol gives a cleaner burn with Stormin' stoves, probbaly won't work with all stoves because its depebdant on the amount of air entering the system.

Back in the day my Dad used to be able to get hold of Banda Fluid which was used in duplicating machines. Worked a traet in a Trangia

Thanks, I'll get hold of some as I'm almost out of the meths I bought recently. Does it burn as hot and light just as easily as meths? Probably a daft question but figured I'd ask.

95% of the composition is identical...………...guess the answer.

Remember them from my apprentice days...………….seem to remember the fluid was predominantly methanol & had the same stink as meths.

From my memory it was that it was pretty much stink free but it was a long, long time ago

I ran a little comparison using the same setup (Speedster 30ml burner, Evernew 900ml pot, Stormin cone). I'd say the bioethanol was either the same or just slightly better than meths on all fronts. When my current stash of meths runs out I'll stock up on bioethanol.

The only mat I've found that looks like it will give me as good a nights sleep for the same weight as my beloved super wide 450g Gossamer Gear Airbeam (that is now delaminating and parting at the seams after 5 years and likely a whole years worth of use).

Some Hoka Speadgoats as my Altras are starting to feel a little less comfy than I'd like

Picked my preshell up today. Pretty dull colour but that presumably was why it was half price...
Fit to my 5'11" 42" chest is good at large.
Dwr is good, it'll hold a cup of water without any drops showing through, and needs a little pressure, not much to force water through. So I'd say decently water resistant :)

I'm expecting a 2 week suspension but have decided to go back to boots for multi-day walks. My podiatrists recons the old arthritic toes need more support than I get from trail shoes so I've bought a pair of Alt-berg Tethera. I went up to the Richmond factory this morning. Very impressed by the professionalism and customer service. Boots aren't bad either. They apply a 7.5% discount on the RRP whether you buy online or from the shop.

Nice, I do rate it. That's the difference then, I'm 6'3", 44" chest. Usually a large fits me fine (I go xl for waterproofs or when I want extra room though).

Give us the breath comparison with the fauxdini at least. :)

    First thing I did ;)
I'd say it's perhaps just over half as permiable? And much much more than my decathlon.
Not had a chance to use it but on rough basic tests it looks a winner.
The fauxhoudini I really like, but it's not very water resistant, not at all really and it could do with a smidgen more wind resistance to balance it's excellent breathability.
So the preshell seems to hit the sweet spot pretty close to me so far:)

@craige yup makes sense your quite a bit bigger than me, surprising we both wear large really!

100g of 850 down and 4m of 0,66 fabric to make a <300g sleeping bag.
Not entirely sure why, I could have bought a macpac nitro for the same money.
Still I could theoretically save 100g on my cumulus 150 quilt lol.

Well I thought I had bought a Osprey Exos from Millets at 20% off. Just received an email saying order cancelled 4 days after accepting my hard earned cash. Very annoying . Don't often get anything from them but not likely too use their online again as no guarantee items are in stock. Missed out on one from eBay ..........
