That looks good and has me thinking on how to improve my camping food & cooking methods.

Lots of other fantastic gear mentioned on this thread too, but it's definitely having a detrimental effect on my bank balance. Damn the lot of you! :)

I'm new to vacuum sealing, been wanting one for ages but put it on the back burner. Hoping it will be useful for kit too- vacuum sealing spare socks, pants, bits of the first aid kit, batteries etc.

A new vacuum sealer is on my list as well. I have one but it's as much use a chocolate teapot and as much sucking power as an asthmatic snail.

Not going to scrimp next time and look for a decent one. Will check out the Andrew James model.

Iv actually got an Andrew James one now, but it's stopped vacuuming for some reason, they think it could be the seal that's £20 plus p an p, or they can look at it and fix it for £40, but the brand new one I want that holds the rolls too is only £50 lol.

My only bit of advice would be don't buy the cheapy bags, go for the dares James ones, they work out about £1 a metre but the quality is far better!! Iv bought cheap ones and tbh they are only good to be heat sealed, they just can't take the vacuum.

I was using the ones that came with the vacuum. Just didn't want to get all the air out. May try some other bags before grabbing new machine.

Pete, will you use your paper filter with this too? Or is it fairly safe to use the sawyer mini without the paper filter as it can be back flushed?

You little ripper! Love Harveys maps too.

I'm finding that the inline pre filter stops my Sawyers flow reducing after a couple of days, just as effective as with the Aquaguard Eliminator. It's a keeper. The pre-filter is lighter than the backflushing syringe, it's a no brainer.

Weirdly I saw the Ultrapod on a Shug video, but no its for gratuitous selfies I'm nowhere near as mental as Shug. Unfortunately.
