Mummy Zero mat is 250gr on my scale which is quite respectable IMO and I'm happy with the valve. Not found a matching size plastic pipe to connect to my cu myog pumpsack yet but the valve is much better designed than the neoair / multimat type. So no complaints (ours are from last years pre-order batch).
1st impression on comfort is good, the material will have to prove itself but I usually use a l"a Palma" foil iso mat underneath anyway.

British Canoeing membership ... which includes the "Canal and River Trust licence" one apparently needs to move on the waters. Don't recall needing a licence when I canoed as a teenager .... :D

I had a family one for a year, you used to get a discount at Cotswolds.

Don't recall ever being asked to prove it on Thames locks but it is the correct thing to do..

You have the valve it was suppose to come. They clearly ran out of them and put a simple one in mine, which doesn't have the deflation option. If you buy their tiny pump, it comes with all the fittings for different mats and even water toys.

They look nice, although I quite like the look of these Haglofs jackets too.

They look good. The appeal - to me - of the Montane Prism Ultra was the hood + pockets and the weight. I've got an old Rohan Spark top which has given years of service and is great, but knackered - bit like the Fireball. I'll stick up a few comments about the Prism Ultra when it arrives.

Is dharma bums any good? Only read on the road.
It's the first Kerouac I ever read so it's hard for me to be objective about it, especially as it is a book that really did change my life. It's a very different book from On the Road and the writing is simpler and he did more revision of the text (though the myth that he didn't edit On the Road is, I believe a myth).
I think his description of the climb captures thing very well. I also enjoyed his time fire-watching on Desolation Peak (though if you read Desolation Angels the account in The Dharma Bums is far from reality).
I suspect that Kerouac is like Marmite for most people.

I really enjoyed On the Road and ended up reading it in couple of days. The text just flowed like in a drug haze). I've yet to read any other of his books, but it really got me into modern classic lit. Next after that was Norman Mailer's The Fight.

I first read On The Road when I was being force fed Chaucer and Dickens for English Lit. O levels - hated both of them and was less than inspired, so my Lit teacher gave it to me to read -it was a breath of fresh air. And I love 10000 Maniacs tribute to him -

You still get the 15% and a generous public liability insurance which is not a bad idea. It also seems an exemption from needing a boat licence from some government agency which is seperate to the annual river and canal licence - mind boggling stuff :(. I did look into operating (personal) ocean going vessels umder British flag a few years ago and apparently all I'd need is radio operator licence ....

Been looking at these to replace my very old and knackered Fireball, let us know what you think

First impressions - great. Mine's Large (Redwood) not two-tone - I'm 6'1" and 12st 10 and it fits with a bit of room for layers - there are draw cords around the bottom. Very light silky feel, obviously not very substantial material but should be OK if treated well. A good length on body and arms ( which I can pull up ), 2 way Vislon Zip feels substantial. The collar is high without the hood and when hood is up it fits very well, covering up most of my face. Pockets are set high so will be above hip belt. Feels very comfortable to wear and although 25g/m2 feels similar to my Rohan Spark top and should match it for warmth. Impressed. :)
