Right so i own a ramshe which is crazy light and a marmot greenland duvet -20 jacket. Ive got a hole in the armoury for a middle weight down jacket. Most stuff im looking at seems to still be sewn through. Would love some recommendations for something with proper baffles between the two. Not interested in synthetic

    Define middle weight. ;)

Montbell has some good box baffle jackets but it's hard to know whet sort of weight you are looking for...

400-500g id say. Some nice ones in the coments so far but cant find them in XXL.

Probably not much help as it's not available in Europe (bought mine in Asia) but I have a Montbell Alpine Down Jacket (hoodless) that weighs 400 gr in size L and is seriously warm (fill weight is reportedly around 170 gr of 800 FP down). The hooded parka is supposed to be 30 gr more.

Montbell Europe only has the sewn-through Alpine Light Down models or the much spendier Mirage Parka with 150 gr of 900 FP (365 gr advertised weight).

Nunatak? Not going to be cheap, mind. But the high level of customization on features, warmth and especially cut and fit was really great for me.

Any chance of using a down gilet to go over one of your already owned jackets?

I've found that works for me. Mind you I've got 2 cheap/crappy tops. :D

Nice. I had a long look at that when it was on SP.
@paul I believe the Ramche you have is the extra light Ramche Hyper Down like this? Somewhat confusingly, Berghaus do 2 other Ramches, the Ramche Micro Down, with 123g of 850FP down and total weight 334g (size M) and the Ramche 2.0 with 199g of 850FP down and total weight 456g (size M). They don't have box baffles but they do have offset baffles in the front and back so slightly off your specs but close. I have the Micro and Bozena has the 1st version of the 2.0 and they're very warm for the weight. I think they only go to size XL but they run a little large, so both of us fit a size smaller than we would normally take.
Wiggle has the Micro at nearly half price in XL.

    Cheers all

I went with the Yeti Oak, a little heavier than i intended but £120 on SP was too good to turn down. Should come in handy for standing around in the cold taking photos which seems to be where my trips are heading at the moment
