Which carbon poles for shelter

Fossil Bluff

Purely hypothetical, but are there any suitable carbon poles that can be joined for a hex shelter?

Can a double carbon pole and joining section take that sort of lateral force, I appreciated that they are designed for compression not flexibility.

If so, which ones work, do any of the carbon flicklock poles work well this way?

Asking for a friend as I don’t use poles.... generally.

Ta :)

Carbon fibre is fine with bending forces, millions of carbon fibre fishing rod owners can attest to this fact.

I joined my Alu poles for ages with an insert section of Leki carbons. In fact, you have remined me to cut another to replace the Alu section in my new poles. :)

I've used komperdell C3 carbon joined with a short section of carbon tube in my solomid xl in pretty brutal winds in the gorms, it wobbled a bit in heavier gusts but was totally fine. Forecast said up to 90mph on the tops and I was in a glen with the wind coming from all directions. I reckon the wind must've been around 50, with gusts at maybe 60. A lot of tents were flattened that night :hungover:

I've been using carbon poles for a few years now. Either as a single in lower mids and tarps and recently two lashed together in the Supermid if we're not carrying the aluxe alu pole...
Seen some testy winds, witnessed some amazing flexing.
No concerns.
