IME a lot of screes in the Dolomites are quite run out, so you encounter bigger stones - I'd use poles and narrow baskets...

I imagine that the rubber attached again would be better. Slightly wider, but still able to take weight, and I guess less slippery on smooth rock but less likely to jam in deeply between cracks.

But I think I've used both with little difference

Have you bought ones specific to your poles?
My lekis are threaded, iirc wife's komperdell are like a twist and lock.
Some poles are just a friction fit with the small collar, like in your picture, acting as Back stop. Them type are fine, unless sunk deep into bog that has a strong suction hold.
