I couldn't find any previous thread just for YouTube links so thought I'd make one. Seemed a bit of a faff to make a new thread for every little YouTube video. There's a lot of hiking related content on YouTube so would be nice for everyone to share people they follow etc. Then after a while could probably compile a list as a helpful resource for everyone.

I'll start off with a smaller YouTuber I follow. Here's his latest upload:

The problem with having one thread to capture all is it makes it hard work to search for things later, the new shelter thread is a good example of that, there’s some good info buried in there somewhere.

Let’s see how this one pans out but my preference would always be to start a new thread for anything that’s worth a discussion.

I get your point but pretty much every forum i use relating to outdoors stuff has a dedicated YouTube thread and seems to work fine. There doesn't seem to be so many people sharing YouTubers they follow on this forum anyway so thought this might spur people on to share a bit more

Nothing wrong with a YouTube thread but I'd say that mentioning the name of the Youtuber and possibly theme/location of the video in the text would help searching tremendously.

Yeah it's definitely memorable. I wasn't quite as comfortable with it as my companion.

I did the ridge (along the crest) in the mid 90's, in rain and mist, so I could only see a short distance in front of me. It seemed reasonably easy and fun with the nice grippy Torridonian sandstone. I've been back to Liathach since, in clear conditions - I found it absolutely terrifying when you can see where you are...

On the topic of fit for purpose tents

Hexpeak V4a vs Lanshan 2 in high winds...

Bit of a foregone conclusion, that one.
Hexpeak, properly modded and pitched, is impressively stable.
Lanshan gives good weight/space ratio at modest price but it just isn't a foul-weather shelter.
A fairer comparison might have been with the Lanshan 1 Pro, but owning and using both tents I'm in no doubt the Hexpeak would still whop it.

Ben Jones' final video of his latest AAWT hike has really left me feeling homesick, although its just over 25 years since I last walked in the areas south of Namadgi National Park so much of what he shows is so familiar, so familiar. In the years between then and my moving to the UK I spent my walking time slightly north of there in the Brindabella Range.

And again the AAWT: 25days, 2 resupplies no food drops. That's moving fairly quickly with big , heavy food carries.
I think I'm really missing Australia at present.
