Current Kit for Winter 2015

The only full length mat I use in the UK is a CCF one. Down mat & TR Prolite are both shorties & used 4 season. Rucsac for the lower legs & my new one has a CCF frame sheet.

Well, I do use a 3/4 TAR Prolite 3 in winter. (320g) But if below freezing, I always have a full length ccf mat under it too. (model varies - 3mm 75cmx190cm sometimes, or multimat adventure lite (240g) or old school large original Karrimat (about 400g, so less used these days).

I tried using a pack for a year or 2, but found more often than not it was wet, so needed putting in a bag if to be used.... Ok in drier times I suppose.

Why don't you use the down bag? I would if i had a heavier weight one than my pd400

Sorry folks, blame me for Adz's modular approach to a sleep system.

Full length x-therm
Cheapo mylar / foam mat ( got one for ya mate,)
Fire ball top n prism bottoms, rab down boots. Fireball hat n merino balaclava. Prism mitts on the way if need be.

Bivvy bag winter, bugnet inner for summer

A thermal wrap would probably work quite well through the day as long as it's getting regular use in sub zero and not too windy. I think Camelbak to a pipe insulator too and a bit of reflectix or similar would sort the sawyer.

I keep thinking of trying it but it's just too much hassle and weight for me, Aquamira's are so much lighter.

neoprene velcro sleeve for me

I dont think I like this sleeping in clothes lark, not so much the top, more the bottoms. I'm fine in a pair of base leggings but tried Prism pants a couple of times and found them quite clammy/damp. I think I prefer a bag with correct warmth, and use the layers for camp wear or only if I get cold overnight.

Even better. :) Bit heavier probably but compared to the hose insulation, not too much.
yea it weighs next to nowt and you can tuck a couple of hand warmer sachets in to protect it through the night although i still dont trust this and tend to hoof it in a ziplock in the bottom of my bag. I kept my filter frost free in estonia till the very end of the trip when you made me get drunk and forget to give it the love it needed lol

I cant understand the comments now the list has been removed... Surely it would have been better to add an updated list further down the thread once you revised it.

I'll be re-adding the link in first post, just been re-organizing it, adding some more gear that hadnt been added yet and adding some descriptions etc.

With the list removed though, we get to make up items that were on it. :D

One thing I didn't ask earlier was why is Adz taking a 'My Little Pony' playhouse and a Sylvanian Families stable complex? Surely, one is enough?..

The camo pink onesie and matching earmuffs didn't look ideal as rainwear either.

Nah I get bored easily so once I have had enough of the ponies I can move onto the horses. The onesie and ear muffs was purely a fashion accessory ;)

We have had this before mate, I still don't understand why you think you got me into modular approaches lol, I have always been into modular approach, before I even met you. I got the 0c down bag before I met you with intention of using liner/quilt or clothes to top up for Winter. Same with my first Neoair which was the small before I got the regular (and now gone back to small). Most of my gear approach has been for modular/multi-use (I just have far too much gear). One thing I credit you for is my love for the Superfly and Blackbird ;)

For me..
I've got a CCF Multimat I have been considering adding underneath the mat.
heat holder socks
Rab Thermal leggins (Although may look into the Prism pants)
Extremities Silk Balaclava
One of many beanies if needed.

The buttplug seemed unnecessary...

Safer than using a dead squirrel ;)

Yeah as the ice would have expanded and possibly stretched/tore the membrane inside so would not be filtering out smaller particles. I'll be taking mine but keeping it wrapped in something thermal and in chest pocket.

In the chest pocket, you use your body heat to keep it warm so it doesn't freeze, if you wrap it in insulation, you will insulated it from your body heat as well.

In winter I keep mine in my cleavage inside a dry bag so don't get wet...

Yes but my logic was that I thought it would be better wrapped up next to my body then left in pack?

The logic of using body heat is good. But I wouldn't insulate it from your body. I wonder if on a string round your neck, beneath your base layer would be the best place if you don't have a suitable cleavage to store it in...

I think I'm just going to put it in a insulating wrap/pouch and bung it in pocket. I do have a bit of man boobs but not enough cleavage to hold the filter ;)

if im moving mine is in use so needs to be plumbed in to the tubes. black neoprene readily absorbs body heat though unlike reflectix which will insulate the filter from external heat sources. reflectix is a bad move imo. Great use of what god gave you :D

Updated/Reorganized a bit. Still got bits to add/weight etc.

Also, it's a real shame but I had to remove the My Little Pony' playhouse/Sylvanian Families stable complex, Pink onesie with matching ear muffs and the butplug. Just extra weight I couldn't justify. Still in two minds about the onesie though.

Ok will stick to travel Colgate then if it tastes that bad :D

It does say that it's for teeth as well though, although it's obviously not recommended by people who have actually tried it.

You can use Dr. Bronner’s soaps for washing your face, body, hands and hair, for bathing, shaving, brushing your teeth, rinsing fruit, aromatherapy, washing dishes by hand, doing laundry, mopping floors, all-purpose cleaning, washing windows, scrubbing toilets, washing dogs, controlling dust mites, and killing ants and aphids. Now, that’s eighteen uses right there, but customers have told us over time about many more uses they have found for our soaps. Let us know what else you use our soaps for!

Yeah it's bad mate, when I was planning for the TGO a few years back I came across folk saying they used it on their teeth. I found it pretty bad though, like brushing your teeth with Castrol GTX and I couldn't shift the taste for hours.

Does wonders for tired feet and a refreshing minty wash
