Pillow recommendations?

I've never used an inflatable pillow before but having had some problems with my neck over the last few months I probably need to consider carrying that few grammes extra weight.

What do forum folk recommend?

@Jamess I Currently use an Exped Air Pillow XL. Before this I used the medium size. No issues and now prefer the xl size. A decent price at outdoor gear.

Not yet taken the plunge towards down ....

Can I ask why the xl rather than the medium? The xl looks quite a beast size wise.

Because it is sooo comfy!

I have the same, it's great, the smaller pillows are just too small, you spend half the night trying to find it

Isn't a whopping pillow like that forever trying to dive off the edge of your x-lite, or is that problem worse with a smaller pillow?

Ha. That rings true. I originally bought the medium to fit into the hood of my sleeping bag several years ago. However since I moved to quilts I found that it kept moving off my mat during the night despite being tied down! The xl is only a slight weight penalty but offers a much improved size for a restless sleeper like me.

I’ve found its more likely to stay on my mat with shock cord compared to the smaller size. I simply went with the xl as it was cheaper than replacing my original with the same size.

In saving money I’ve a larger pillow but it’s too large for a buff so I’ll need to look for another cover. That said, I don’t find the material too bad against the skin.

I stick mine inside a canabilised old fleece that goes over the top end of my mat.
A comfy nights night's sleep is so well worth a few extra grams

Exped medium here for the last few years including the campervan - works well and if it popped I'd buy another.

I use a thermarest compressible large pillow, yes it’s big and not ultralight but it’s extremely comfy :) i use compression velcro straps when it’s time to pack it :)

I’m using one of the knock-off S2S pillows off AliExpress.
I had been eyeing up one of those Cocoon Air-core Hyperlite pillows after fondling one in a shop before lockdown.
The reviews make them out to be slippery so I’m gonna save myself some money.

edit: that said, if there’s any excess stuff left from my quilt build project I could probably knock one up cheaply using one of @edh ’s pillows or my silly glow pillow

I like the Aeros and also have an Exped. Found the best thing was to buy a STS case with zip then stuff a fleece or t-shirt inside along with pillow for a bit of extra height.

I sleep with my arm under the pillow, so can't get on with inflatable ones, even at really low inflation they just pop out

So i use a Zpack pillow stuff sack filled with clothes, works perfectly and really comfortable

I have the S2S Aeros UL (Large) at 67g, bought to see if it was any better than my Naturehike Aeros at 80g.
Apart from 13g and about a tenner, there's no appreciable difference.
There are reports of the Naturehike not being as durable as the S2S, although I've not found that (yet).

Trekology 2.0, anti slip dots on the rear & a strap to wrap around mat. Weighs in at about 90g. Super comfy too
