Winter stove hack

Out of curiosity I came across this video last night.

I've never really had a problem with canister top stoves in winter using the right gas and keeping the can warm.

But is likely to end in a disaster ?

Search for the Moulder Strip.

remember when we used to do this for making Alpine bivi stoves, generally done with a Markhill Stormy. I know a few even enlarged the jet. It was of course very dangerous, they were known as The Alpine Bomb stove.

Plenty of "Moulder strip" threads on BPL covering material, operating temperatures etc. Appears to work fine as long as the outside temperature is low enough (don't test this in your kitchen!) and the canister temperature is monitored by simply touching it.

I used to know someone that fitted an MSR XGK into a Trangia body with hanging chains. That thing was a barely controlled explosion and bloody terrifying.
