If you're in one of the groups that qualify you for a railcard you can get to the Lakes for a couple of nights quite cheaply. Book ahead or sometimes there short notification journeys. I have done Nottingham to Windermere return for £28 in the past. Some of us would love to live close to the "bumpy bits", but they are are too far away. I live in West London so the Surrey Hills are the closest bumpy bits to me, only 30 minutes drive from home, most of it by motorway, so cheap on fuel to get there too. The bumpy bits North of Liverpool would take most of a day to get to and cost a fortune in fuel...So I have to make do with what I have nearby...
NDW is three miles from my house, and I can take Swithin's way, then Hangers way and be on the SDW petersfield in ~30 miles or stay on at Swithin's and be in Winchester also in 30. No complaints, but it's pretty rather than dramatic.
No. You would need something more substantial to prevent scorching. Might be ok if you just did a small fire for a quick brew and lifted the base plate up to the second level. I bought a plumbers heat resistant mat to go under foil tray the honey stove sits on.Hi folks, just wondering – would one of @stormin' s reflective baseplates work under a BPL honey or pocket stove to protect the ground – has anyone tried it?
Thanks @Shewie – checked it out and it's 12 weeks' lead time for the Bushbuddy at the moment :-(
From memory it was well under 100grams. The material is like a dishcloth and about the same size.
If I can get mine open I will repair it. Needs the metal plate under the fire grate replacing. It’s so well made I can see how to!!That's what I prefer about the Bushbuddy, it leaves no scorch marks
72g for this one. Higher temperature than the soldering mat I have so I may get this one.

It’s worth a try.I think the stainless is spot welded, could you dremel out the bad stuff and patch it, jb weld should hold it
This store may have one in stock and available sooner? https://wildstoves.co.uk/product/bushbuddy-stove/
The rusted out metal is below the fire grate so I may try and ease all or some of the wire out or even cut it out and replace it. May be easier than trying to pop those spot welds.I think the stainless is spot welded, could you dremel out the bad stuff and patch it, jb weld should hold it
