What is the water retention weight of these China tents after a good soaking?
Don't have a clue, I just did that for a joke.

I have to say that my Trailstar is shiny and appears to have more silicone soaked into it than a couple of Chinese clones. I think that rain will run off better than the Chinese ones.

For your interest Foxy the venerable R. Nisely did some research on the 3fUL rain kilty thing. Found some surprisingly good things about the fabric-I believe the fabric is much the same (?) on their tents. Can't find the post.

I have one of their rain kilts and it is excellent. The only thing is I wonder if for that purpose a more robust material would be better. I've modified mine with strengthening patches, and shock cord to make a kind of kilt pin to stop it blowing up so much in the wind. I have the same to hold the middle of the skirt hem together. Now it works really well in the wind.

I have it too. Like it. Flap behind left knee in wind has been fine. I will rotate it depending on the wind direction.
Yes, he needs to bust out his testing stuff on a tent-but the material I think is very robust and perhaps better than what might be thought sometimes.
Did you happen to find his post?

I've just been and pulled my rain kilt from my pack and in fact I didn't get to add a shock cord in the middle of the hem. I have one with a tap washer at each end in the traditional kilt pin position. This helps a lot in the wind. I saw a girl walking across Rannoch Moor one very wet and windy day with a bin bag rain kilt on. She had sellotaped the middle of the hem together and it looked like a very effective piece of rain gear. Sorry I didn't find the post.

Thanks found the answer from a 5 year old
I'm wondering if we could get this young woman to test the Duplex against the newly-released Lanshan 2 Pro, which of course is a closer match structurally. 3F UL claim they use a different fabric for the Pro series.

Lanshan 1 Pro arrived today,

I’ll be up the park tomorrow for a quick pitch and I’ll get some photos while I’m at it.

Are there new real world experiences with the Lanshan 1pro? I am still hesitant... Any reports would be helpful;)

Didn't Karrimor do a tent a bit like this, back in the day?
Ultimate Direction do a similar shaped tarp for use with a bivvi, bivi or bivy. 283 g and can be picked up for around £150.
